Who We Fund

Since Sunrise first started providing grants, we have helped support many organisations with a wide range of projects. Here are some of the main organisations we are currently working in the communities of Bristol/Southwest in the UK, and Peru.

Caring in Bristol

Caring in Bristol is an effective local charity working to support homeless and vulnerable people in Bristol 365 days a year. They are striving to create a society where everyone has a home, has hope and is a part of a community. A unifying theme of their work is the desire to engage a committed community of local volunteers, bringing people together, helping make change happen for homeless people in Bristol.

"Taking the first step to getting help is the scariest. Once you’ve got the help it makes sense. Knowing that someone’s consistently there, in person or at the end of the phone, is very meaningful. It relieves stress, which is like a shopping bag. There’s only so  many times you can carry them before they break. Project Z is the best support I’ve ever had."

Changes Bristol

Changes Bristol is a peer support mental health charity delivering a support network for those suffering mental distress. They have developed as an organisation through the experience of their members, developing their services to meet the needs of communities throughout Bristol and the surrounding area through their peer support model.

“However badly my week is going, I know I have people who are ready to listen every Tuesday which helps me from feeling isolated.”

“Being able to attend meetings as often as I need, and talk openly about my feelings and experiences, has finally begun to lift the weight of the mental health conditions which I have been carrying around my whole life.”

Gympanzees

Gympanzees support all forms of disability from mild to profound physical disability, learning difficulties together with sensory and behavioural disorders. They make sure children and young people with disabilities are given equal opportunities to play and exercise to aid their physical and mental development, ensuring that they can meet their potential.

“For my son to finally enjoy soft play is beyond measure – it’s had such a huge impact on us. Just seeing him have fun and feel included means everything. It also gives him a space to practice his walking and develop his coordination.”

“A significant and profound impact on his life…”

Sound Vision

Sound Vision offers welcoming environments where young people with additional needs can benefit from working in small groups with experienced special needs educational professionals. It signals to future employers a young person's commitment to developing their employability, skills, and experience. In some cases, they show evidence of educational achievement in place of formal qualifications such as GCSEs. Not only can young people discover the enjoyment of participating in arts activities, but they can also develop creative and communication skills that are essential for success in 21st-century life.

"… he has found his voice at Sound Vision - literally. He’s been given an opportunity that many young people with additional needs aren't often afforded: a chance to be included, encouraged, empowered, and celebrated. He's truly been given the space to thrive.”

Yanapasun’s Therapy Centre

Yanapasun’s Therapy Centre situated in Urubamba within the Sacred Valley area of Cusco in Peru provides professional physiotherapy, early stimulation, speech therapy, psychology, and social support to families in and around their community who are affected by disability, slow development, clinical syndromes, and trauma with the aim of helping the patient to reach their maximum potential. Also, in 2020 Yanapasun opened a Children’s Home for five children to safeguard their future, to provide them with the correct education and nurturing, to keep them safe, make them feel loved and for them to thrive.

“During the past six months Fabricio has made great progress, he's about to take his first steps, he behaves like any child his age and is increasingly playful and active. Without a doubt, the therapies he receives here have been fundamental in improving his quality of life.”
